2. Add Water
Rinse both bottles with 0.5 litres of water, close, shake well, add to mix and mix for 3 minutes. After mixing for 3 minutes, add 3 litres | 0.8 gal of water. Continue mixing well for another 3 minutes. Total mixing time: minimum 6 minutes.
Intensely pre-wet surface. Porous surfaces as well as higher surface temperatures, require more intense pre-wetting.
Apply the mixed pavement jointing mortar onto the pre-wetted surface by pouring out in three or four spots to optimise flow capacity. Work carefully into the joints using a squeegee/rubber slider, ensuring it passes deep into the joints and fills them completely.
5. Sweep Off
After approx. 10 minutes the excess mortar on the surface of the stones can be swept off carefully with a large, coarse broom. The correct moment for sweeping, is when white smears no longer form on the stone surface during sweeping.
6. Final Cleaning
Finally, use a soft hair broom to do a final cleaning until all residual mortar has been removed from the surface. Sweeping should be done diagonally to the joint. Do not re-use swept off material.
